Second Draft: From Blog to Empowering Collective

Before I start this blog post, I want you all to know I almost titled this “Second Draft Blog getting a facelift???” and decided against it for the sake of SEO lol.

I haven’t posted a blog in a while. A couple months at least. I had expectations I told myself I needed to meet that were impossible, and when I didn’t hit those expectations, I fell into a pit of unworthiness. We are our own worst enemies.

But, I’m here to say that I’m back to writing. My expectations for myself have adjusted based on what I’m capable of in this moment, and I’m more excited than ever to continue this blogging journey. The thing is, I want to take it in a new direction.

I love Second Draft as a blog where I can write about taboo topics, being vulnerable and honest, and also writing about random shit. It will stay that way as a theme, but I want more from it.

Since starting this, I’ve had multiple people reach out to me in regard to some posts (that I’ve written or guests have written) and realized there is a community budding. Second Draft can be more than a blog; it’s a community. Of people who are creatives, queer, learning to heal, growing, becoming, and so much more. So with that information, I’m turning this into a collective.

Second Draft will be more than a blog. It will be a brand that shares and empowers creatives in any way. My vision for it includes events and workshops, subscription boxes, talk sessions, writing events, and more blog posts about vulnerability and just being human. A community where we can uplift each other and understand what we’re all going through in today’s world.

Second Draft is the in between of who you are and who you’re becoming. With themes of creativeness, growth, and belonging. You have a place with us. I’m excited to see what we can do with this.

More information to come at another time. Until then, join the collective on Instagram and/or Threads @seconddraftcollective. We look forward to hanging out.
